Saint-Laurent-Médoc church

Church - Saint-Laurent-Médoc

This historical building dedicated to Saint Laurent was built during the 12th Century and joined the National protected monuments inventory on Oct. 5th, 1925 (N°ISMH : PA00083757).

The actual building features were shaped in 1841 : both the central nave, northern and southern walls were raised, with a barrel vault over the nave and two arches in the chancel built as pointed vaults.

Two chapels are dedicated to Our Lady and Saint Jean. Once levelled, they will be painted in a neogothic style, with artistic minstrel features. The church floor was refurbished with large terracotta tiles. The oldest depiction of the church dates back to 1664 – in which the church is described with a « whitewashed » interior.

Maison Lucien Gau teams crafted, mounted and installed 14 bronze chandeliers in the central nave and church chancel, sides and narthex of this remarkable Saint Laurent du Médoc church, in Gironde, France.
